This Gallery contains maps and geospatial data pertaining to
sage-grouse (both greater and Gunnison).
The Gunnison sage-grouse is federally listed as threatened while the
greater sage-grouse is a candidate for federal listing. Sage-grouse has seen a significant population
decline in recent years, as a result of drought, energy and residential
development, and other habitat fragmentation.
The SRLCC is collaborating with its neighbor LCCs (Great Basin, Great
Northern, and Plains and Prairie Potholes) to provide timely science products
for conservation of sagebrush ecosystem across the west. And more locally, the SRLCC supported a
vulnerability assessment on sage-steppe habitats and associated species
(including Gunnison sage-grouse) in west-central CO.
